Titleist Pro V1 2009
The balls maintain the traditions of the Pro V1 franchise: The Pro V1 is better
suited to a wider range of launch conditions and swing speeds, although its
attributes are best exploited by lower-handicap golfers; the Pro V1x is
optimized for higher swing speeds and golfers who produce higher launch
angles, and produces less spin.
So what are the differences between previous-generation Pro V1s and Pro V1x and the
'new and improved' versions debuting in 2009? The primary improvements,
Titleist says, are that both balls now offer more distance, and both have
more durable covers.
The New 2009 Pro V1 ball offers these features:
• A reformulated and larger core, compared to previous models, that helps produce greater ball speed and, therefore, more distance.
• A new high-performance Urethane Elastomer cover formulation that improves cover durability.
• A redesigned and thinner Ionomeric casing layer, which targets better spin characteristics around greens for improved scoring.
The New 2009 Pro V1 continues the ball's 392-dimple, 'Staggered Wave' pattern, which Titleist says contributes to a more consistent ball flight.
Bridgestone Tour B330-RX
This is the new model. The Bridgestone Tour B330-RX golf
ball is aimed at low handicappers with moderate swing
speeds - golfers who need a little extra "oomph" off the
tee, but who also desire the spin, control and feel
characteristics of a player's ball.
The Tour B330-RX incorporates Bridgestone's
Very Soft Gradational
Compression Core and Bridgestoneclaims it is the 'softest multilayer ball on the market.' Combined
with an an Ionomer Inner Cover designed to increase velocity
and reduce spin off the driver and long irons, the high-rebound
core allows Bridgestone to target this ball at low-handicappers
with swing speeds from 85 mph to 102 mph.
No where on the golf course is feel more important than in the short game.
When you attempt these greenside chip, 5 foot putt, or 30
yard approach shot, you want a golf ball that feel responsive and stop on a dime
when it hits the green. The Bridgestone Tour B330-RX does not disappoint
when it comes to the short game and scoring shots. The Soft Urethane
Seamless dimple design cover gives the Tour B330-RX, that premium
enhanced feel in and around the green that you desire. When it came to putting the
Tour B330-RX is easy to line up with its pronounced aim line and had a nice
feel. When it came to pitch shots and chips, the Bridgestone Tour 330-RX
provided the high spin and control that you want from a premium golf ball.
Overall the Bridgestone Tour 330-RX is an excellent golf ball that provides
Tour-Caliber performance for golfers with slower swing speeds who want
long driving distance off the tee with great spin and control in the short game.
Callaway Warbird Plus
The Callaway Warbird Plus is a 2-piece golf ball that features an all-new faster
core construction and the addition of HEX aerodynamics. At its center, the
Warbird Plus golf ball boasts a high resiliency core with a proprietary rubber
formulation that provides maximum distance with an even
softer feel than its
peer, the Callaway Big Bertha Diablo. Beyond the core is a .050” durable Ionomer
cover that generates long drives and provides even longer playability. Lastly,
the Callaway Warbird Plus’s cover features an aerodynamically-designed
HEX with only 332 dimples that eliminate seam, enhance shot-to-shot c
onsistency, and reduces drag for long, efficient ball flights with high stability.
Callaway Warbird Plus Golf Balls feature:
- Faster, high resiliency rubber core provides maximum distance with softer feel than the previous generation
- Soft Ionomer cover generates long drives and provides even longer playability
- HEX Aerodynamics virtually eliminates the seam, enhancing shot-to-shot consistency
- HEX Aerodynamics reduces drag for long, efficient ball flight with amazing stability
- Number of geometries: 332
Callaway Big Bertha Diablo The Callaway Big Bertha Diablo is a 2-piece golf ball designed for a
straighter distance, while still maintaining a soft feel. At its center,
the Big Bertha Diablo boasts a high-resiliency core with a proprietary
rubber formulation that increases ball speed velocity across a wide
range of swing speeds. Beyond the core is a .040” durable Ionomer
cover that generates long drives and provides even longer playability.
Lastly, the Callaway Big Bertha Diablo’s cover features an
aerodynamically-designed HEX with 332 dimples that eliminate seam,
enhance shot-to-shot consistency, and reduces drag for long,
efficient ball flights with high stability.
Designed to go hand-in-hand with the new Big Bertha Diablo line of drivers,
fairway woods and hybrids, Callaway's new Big Bertha Diablo
golf ball is a two-piece design made for players who unapologetically
want more distance and accuracy off the tee. Callaway says
it achieved this by using a highly-resilient proprietary rubber in
the core that increases the ball's velocity off the tee and reduces spin.
That should mean more yards off the tee to go along with a softer feel,
but less spin on short game shots. The softness comes from the cover,
which is a scant .043'' thick.
